Anton Stach has done something not seen in Premier League since Kalvin Phillips at Leeds
Anton Stach made a record of his own in Leeds United’s win over Wolves on Saturday.
Leeds wiped the floor with Wolves to secure a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon, finally sparking some much-needed optimism after a dull few weeks.
Stach gave Leeds the lead in the first half with a sublime free-kick from long range, not long before Noah Okafor made sure of all three points.
However, by scoring that free-kick, Stach did something for the first time in four years, with Kalvin Phillips the last player to have achieved the feat.

Anton Stach’s first Premier League goal for Leeds
Anyone who watched pre-season will have been aware of what Stach can do, having scored a screamer from range in Leeds’ draw with AC Milan.
Albeit from a set piece, he replicated that at Molilneux, with a pass-like finish into the top right corner, leaving Jose Sa helpless in the Wolves goal.
However, the last player to have scored their first Premier League goal from a free-kick was Leeds’ Phillips, back in 2021, as shared by OptaJoe on X.
The Englishman found the back of the net from range against West Brom, in a rather ironic 3-1 victory over the Baggies.
In general, Stach was superb for Leeds against Wolves, and the Whites will be keen to see more of him as the season goes on.
Leeds have a midfield general with Anton Stach
With all of the concerns over Leeds offensively, it has somewhat gone under the radar just how good Stach has been since arriving at Elland Road, and it was no different against Wolves.
Via Fotmob, Stach created one chance and completed 72 per cent of his passes at Molineux.
His goal had an xG of just 0.08, turned into 0.48 xGOT, showcasing just how well-struck it really was from the set piece.
Defensively, he played his part, with five of his six defensive duels resulting in the German winning the ball for his side.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin may get the praise for Leeds, but Stach was outstanding once again.
