Ally McCoist loses his mind over ‘ridiculous’ first-half incident in Leeds United v Leicester City
Ally McCoist lost his mind over the “absolutely ridiculous” strike from Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans in the first-half of the match against Leeds United.
The Belgian unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner of Illan Meslier’s goal in the seventh minute of their Premier League clash.
The stunning effort was, however, ruled out by VAR as Boubakary Soumare was adjudged to be offside in the build-up.

“The strike is absolutely fantastic,” McCoist said on BT Sport 1 (08:06pm). “It could be offside, this will be close. Soumare might be in an offside position and he knocks it back and that is absolutely ridiculous.
“This is the angle, look at that. Oh my goodness. My goodness, what a strike. I’ve got to say before the decision is made, it will be a real shame to disallow that.
“However, the rules are the rules. Soumare’s offside. Wow. What an early bonus that is for Leeds United. And do you know something? He doesn’t need to be offside.”

Massive let off
Leeds went into the game sitting 16th in the Premier League table and in desperate need of points, in what has been one of the closest relegation battles in the entire history of the competition.
Many fans were perhaps fearing the worst going into the match, with the Whites having lost their last three matches, where they conceded 13 goals and scored just three.
Moreover, the fortress that once was Elland Road had vanished right before their eyes, with two of those losses – 5-1 to Crystal Palace and 6-1 to Liverpool – coming at home.
And it really didn’t start well for the hosts, with VAR the only thing saving them from an early goal against them.
Given how the Foxes were just a point and a place below the Yorkshire outfit going into the game, it was clear that this match was viewed as a major opportunity to not only climb the table but also to push their opponents further down it.
A huge 45 minutes now awaits, with the club’s Premier League future undoubtedly on the line, with Gracia’s tenure perhaps also at stake.
In other Leeds United news, one pundit believes that some Whites players are still not over the Marcelo Bielsa hangover and continue to play like his teams did.
