Alan Shearer names Leeds United players in Team of the Week after Chelsea win
Alan Shearer has named the Leeds United attacking duo of Jack Harrison and Brenden Aaronson in his Team of the Week after the 3-0 win against Chelsea.
The two players combined for all three of the goals and caught the attention of the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer.
Shearer’s team heavily featured players from Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester United as well.
Via the official Premier League website, Shearer wrote of Aaronson, “Chelsea couldn’t handle his runs from deep and he was rewarded for pressurising Edouard Mendy with a goal.”
He then added a line about Harrison as well, “Produced his third assist of the season and scored a goal to complete a memorable afternoon for Leeds.”
It was hard to pin the result down on two players as it was a valiant team effort.
However, when there’s a big margin of victory, it’s the attacking players that tend to get the credit and we cannot argue with Shearer’s calls here.
Aaronson proved to be a constant thorn in Chelsea’s side and was relentless in his pressing from start to end.
He seldom gave the Blues players any breathing room and deservedly got his goal as he stole the ball from Edouard Mendy to tap it into an empty net.
Harrison also was always looking to make things happen as he combined well with the players around him.
His delivery from the set piece for Rodrigo’s goal was exemplary and it was a move that we could watch time and again without getting exhausted.
