Leeds United's Anton Stach has been picked as a potential Fabinho-esque midfielder for Germany.

With Jurgen Klopp now at the helm of the German national team, there will be plenty of comparisons to the Liverpool side that brought the 59-year-old success in England.

For Stach, he featured in the opening two games of Germany's 2026 Nations League campaign.

However, with Klopp calling up two squads for the four games over this break, the Leeds man has already been sent back, not named among the second split of players.

During his time on international duty, the 27-year-old was only utilised in a substitute capacity against both the Netherlands and Greece.

But his homeland's media believe he could be the solution to an issue persisting within Klopp's roster on a more full-time basis.

Why Leeds' Anton Stach has been compared to Fabinho

Fabinho was one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe during his time at both Monaco and Liverpool.

The Brazilian was a cornerstone of the Klopp side that won both the Premier League and Champions League.

Throughout his career, the 32-year-old also won Ligue 1 and the Saudi Pro League titles as well.

And Hamburger Abendblatt has touted Stach to be a player of similar ilk for Klopp on the international stage in their print edition on 1 October.

They share that the national team is lacking a "tenacious defensive midfielder" and do not have one present this international break.

Stach has been mooted as the "closest to fitting the profile" of a Fabinho-type player, and he may be the solution for Germany moving forward.

He was unable to push his way into Klopp's starting lineup this time around, but with public perception building in the German media, he could be set for a future key role.

Is Jurgen Klopp concerned about his Germany midfield?

While the public perception may be leaning towards Stach being the solution for Klopp, the manager himself is not worried.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Greece, Klopp stated: "I have been a football coach for 25 years, and in my whole life no double pivot has ever worked after five days. It doesn't work like that."

So the midfield duo of Joshua Kimmich and Felix Nmecha may yet still be the dominant pairing moving forward as the German looks to play them into form and build a relationship.

However, if things do not improve quickly over the coming year, the former Liverpool manager may be forced to try new ideas, allowing Stach a chance to cement his place.
