Why 49ers won't start to ask serious questions of Harry Wilson yet at Leeds United
Harry Wilson is yet to make his presence really felt at Leeds United.
The Welsh international has only started one Premier League game so far, on the opening day against Nottingham Forest.
On another day, Wilson would have scored at the City Ground, only to be denied by the offside flag.
Since then, he's been reduced to substitute appearances by Daniel Farke.
Wilson has already been hit by injury, missing the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace and the extended international break.
But, despite his struggles, the 49ers won't be too concerned yet.
Are Leeds United fans worried about Harry Wilson?
The short answer is yes.
But, this is a story we have seen far too often before as well, with several players being questioned because they haven't immediately hit the ground running.
Look at Dominic Calvert-Lewin last season, he missed several chances, including that horror debut at Sheffield Wednesday, but is now an absolute hero at Elland Road.
Given that Farke and Leeds pursued Wilson for over a year, and likely paid over the odds in wages to win his free signature, the pressure is always higher.
Wilson had the season of his life in the Premier League last year, but Leeds still won the race and he arrived with those expectations.
One reason for hope with Harry Wilson
There is a reason why Wilson isn't playing right now, and it's not as simple as his performance level.
Anton Stach is being used further forward, with Ao Tanaka deeper alongside Ethan Ampadu.
That's because Leeds have had a really tricky start to the season.
Away games at Arsenal, Forest and Brighton are among them, with Brentford and Newcastle at home, too.
Crystal Palace was the only so-called lesser fixture, where an extra winger would have helped over Stach, but Wilson wasn't available.
It's not getting any easier, either, with Manchester United, Sunderland, Bournemouth, Spurs and Chelsea next.
But, imagine if Wilson comes off the bench in any of those and makes a difference, especially on Sunday at Elland Road against our fierce rivals?
That is the spark that any player needs.
Wilson may be on those big bucks, but he has plenty of time to prove himself, once the season and games start opening up.
Taking Calvert-Lewin as inspiration, the 49ers will know that Wilson could still be a huge free transfer success.
