What Daniel Farke has said about Jean-Matteo Bahoya debut in Chelsea vs Leeds United

Leeds United fans are itching to see Jean-Matteo Bahoya in action.

Signed on an initial loan with an obligation to buy from Frankfurt on deadline day, the French winger made the bench against Brighton.

Owner of the fastest-ever record speed in the Bundesliga, hopes are high.

While Bahoya and Melvin Bard were in the squad at the AMEX on Saturday, neither made it onto the pitch for their debuts.

And now, with the Carabao Cup returning with a trip to Chelsea on Wednesday evening, hopes are high.

But what exactly has Farke said about the Stamford Bridge trip?

Will Jean-Matteo Bahoya get debut vs Chelsea?

He is almost certain to get on the pitch, but a start feels unlikely at this moment in time.

Farke is known to have his favourites, and he has rarely ever thrown a new signing straight into his side.

Bahoya will be no different.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, the German was quizzed on the new signings.

Adam Pope shared his answer via X, writing: "I want to be difficult to predict."

That was followed up by Bahoya being named as a possible starter, alongside Michael Zetterer and Melvin Bard.

Despite the game being tomorrow night and travel still to take, there are two more training sessions booked in before.

They will make all the difference.

Why Bahoya is most likely Leeds signing to get full debut

Out of the three, Zetterer and Bard are almost guaranteed to start outside of the winger, if Farke wants rotation.

James Trafford has played every minute of the competitive season so far, and is on a good run, but the German may have been promised at least cup minutes to sign.

As for Bard, he was somewhat of an emergency signing.

Gabriel Gudmundsson started the season injured and only just returned for 90 minutes at Brighton, so there is almost a zero per cent chance he plays at Stamford Bridge.

With Joe Rodon injured, Bard may simply have to start on the left.

And where better to be thrown into the deep end than the intense rivalry against Chelsea, where he could make a name for himself.

Dan James, Brenden Aaronson and Harry Wilson were all bench at Brighton, and will be ahead of Bahoya for a start in London, however.

He will almost certainly get on the pitch, but it feels highly unlikely that he starts straight away in this one.
