Tim Sherwood can't help but laugh at own joke made ahead of Leeds vs Man United
Tim Sherwood knows life is not going to get any easier for Michael Carrick and Manchester United as they head to Leeds United.
Leeds head into a Premier League clash with their bitter rivals sitting above them in the table for the first time since 2002.
The Whites suffered their first loss of the campaign last time out as they went down 2-1 to reigning champions Arsenal.
Daniel Farke's side are three points and six places better off than Man United, who have made their worst start to a season in 40 years.
Carrick's job is reported to be under threat already, despite only being appointed permanently in the summer.
After a midweek loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Man United have little time to prepare for their trip to a fired-up Elland Road.
What has Tim Sherwood said ahead of Leeds vs Man United?
Sunday afternoon's showdown in West Yorkshire was the standout fixture of this coming game week, regardless.
Even more so now, with plenty of eyes on the visitors as another defeat could spell the end for Carrick.
Every pundit in the land is seemingly having their say on the situation at Old Trafford.
Sherwood is the latest to do so, as he made himself laugh when discussing what's to come for United and Carrick.
The ex-Tottenham boss was asked about the fallout from the Lisandro Martinez situation, with the defender calling out transfer chief Jason Wilcox following the loss in Madrid.
"What would I do? Speak to Martinez, put it to bed as soon as possible, and then get ready for that easy game away at Leeds," he said on Wednesday's edition of The Overlap Daily.
Sherwood laughed at his own joke, while Jamie Redknapp also found the sarcasm funny.
Leeds' record vs Man United no laughing matter
Not many Leeds fans would take a point this weekend if offered to them right now.
It is very rare, but Leeds are favourites to beat Man United, even more so when you consider Farke's favourable record against Carrick.
That said, Leeds have won just one of their past 24 meetings with Man United in all competitions.
The most recent of those was at Old Trafford six months ago, of course, thanks to a couple of Noah Okafor goals.
Not since 2002 have Leeds been victorious in this fixture at Elland Road - something Farke and his players will be desperate to put right on Sunday.
