Thiago Motta could replace Daniel Farke at Leeds United.

The German has guided the Whites back into the Premier League with two games to spare after the results on Easter Monday (21 April).

However, that may not be enough to keep him in the dugout at Elland Road after doubts emerged over his future.

Leeds could appoint Motta as Farke exit gathers pace

Farke could be sacked by Leeds with concerns surrounding his record in the top-flight, as he has won just six of his 49 matches in the division previously.

A report from Daily Express (23 April) labels Motta as an overachiever and claims that there is no better candidate to replace the 48-year-old if he is handed his marching orders.

It states that the former Juventus manager would have the Whites competing for a top-half finish and possibly European qualification due to his record at his previous clubs.

Motta would be a great appointment for Leeds

Motta struggled with the Old Lady and was sacked after just nine months in March but his record with smaller teams speaks volumes about his managerial ability.

The 42-year-old led Spezia to survival before moving to Bologna and securing a surprise Champions League berth last season.

It will be a tough battle for survival for the Elland Road outfit next season given how the newly-promoted teams have struggled recently and they may decide that they have to get rid of Farke due to his dismal record in the top-flight.

If the 49ers do go in a different direction, Motta should be near the top of their list as he has proven his credentials with an underdog team on numerous occasions and could do the same thing in Yorkshire.

However, nothing is certain yet, they may well remain with Farke and give him a chance to prove himself after he secured their ascention to the top level once again.

It would be a harsh decision but if they secure survival, it would be the right one but that remains to be seen as they have not sacked the former Norwich boss yet.
