Sam Matterface predicts Leeds result vs Man United after 'bad record' he's seen
Leeds United are gearing up for their biggest match of the Premier League so far on Sunday.
Rivals Manchester United make the trip to Elland Road on Sunday for a 2pm kick-off.
Leeds have only been beaten once in the Premier League this season, that coming last weekend in a 2-1 loss at champions Arsenal.
Despite the setback against the Gunners, many are fancying Leeds to get one over their cross-Pennines rivals this weekend.
Michael Carrick's side are in a state of disarray as they prepare to travel to West Yorkshire.
Presenter and commentator Sam Matterface gave this thoughts on the game live on talkSPORT, highlighting one thing that could count against Leeds.
What did Sam Matterface say about Leeds' clash with Man United?
Carrick is a man seemingly fighting for his job after a hugely disappointing start to the season.
Indeed, United have won just one of their six Premier League games this season, and slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
Following that game, Lisandro Martinez dropped a grenade, slamming director of football Jason Wilcox in a damning interview.
Matterface says he does fancy Leeds to get the victory when giving his prediction for the game.
However, he did allude to a "bad record" Leeds have.
Since beating Chelsea 3-0 in August 2022 in a Sunday 2pm kick-off, Leeds have gone 20 Premier League games without a win in matches kicking off before 3pm (D7 L13) – the longest ever run by a side in Premier League history.
Giving his predictions on talkSPORT, Matterface said: "Man United, a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, Leeds had the week off after losing 2-1 at Arsenal.
"I saw them down at the Emirates and I thought they were excellent, they played really well for about 60/70 minutes in that game and then Arsenal brought on the substitutes and changed it around.
"At Elland Road, I know they've got a bad record in pre-8pm kick-offs they don't like sunlight, they only like floodlight but I think Leeds will win 2-1."
Leeds sense blood versus Man United
Leeds took four points off the Red Devils last season, including a memorable 2-1 win at Manchester United.
Noah Okafor scored twice on that occasion at Old Trafford, and how dearly would Leeds to rub more salt in Man United's wounds at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke and his side can sense blood, and their status as favourites for this game is fully justified.
The old adage goes beward the wounded animal, and that is obviously something Leeds will have to guard against this weekend.
But there should be absolutely no fear about this game. Leeds have started the season strongly, and have plenty of weapons to hurt their rivals.
Now, it's time to go out and deliver.
