Robbie Cook called up to Leeds first-team training ahead of Man United showdown
Robbie Cook has been given a first-team training call-up ahead of Leeds United's clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
The goalkeeper currently features for the Whites' U21s setup and has been rising through the ranks after joining from Perth Glory in 2025.
The 18-year-old has been involved in several games for Scott Gardner's side already this season, playing against senior sides like Tamworth and Boreham Wood.
Cook has clearly impressed Thorp Arch figures, and has reportedly been involved in the first-team preparations ahead of the feisty clash against Man United at Elland Road this weekend.
Daniel Farke already has the likes of James Trafford and Michael Zetterer at his disposal, but perhaps there has been some injury behind the scenes.
Either way, there is lots to take in after the latest Leeds update involving Cook.
What does Robbie Cook Leeds call-up actually mean?
Cook has never featured in a senior matchday squad for Leeds since signing almost two years ago.
The teenager is one of several top talents in LS11, but Farke has rarely been the head coach to hand out chances to youngsters.
As per LUFC Youth on X this Saturday, Cook has been called up to the Whites' first-team training in the week building up to a clash against Man United.
There was no mention of goalkeeping unavailability in Farke's press conference ahead of the game against Michael Carrick's side.
That said, the German head coach has been using three senior shot-stoppers in training, including Alex Cairns, alongside Cook this week.
This could be due to Farke splitting up his side into several different groups during training, perhaps playing matches between four mini teams.
Speculation aside, the facts are that Cook is clearly highly rated enough to be involved in first-team training, which may raise the eyebrows of several Leeds fans.
Cook's contract examined after training call-up
It is highly unlikely that Cook will feature in Leeds' squad for the game against Man United, unless Zetterer is injured.
Cairns has never played a game for the Whites, and Cook could be seen as the third-choice option after his recent performances for the U21s.
Leeds paid "small financial compensation" for Cook in 2025, as he penned a two-and-a-half-year deal.
His contract runs out in June of 2027, and he is most likely playing for his future at Leeds with the U21s.
