Adam Pope shares hilarious scenes at the end of Daniel Farke's Leeds vs Man United press conference
Daniel Farke brought some light relief at the end of his press conference previewing Leeds United's clash with Manchester United.
The Whites are full swing preparing for the visit of their most hated rivals to Elland Road on Sunday.
Leeds are looking to rebound from their first Premier League defeat of the season against champions Arsenal last weekend.
But with the Red Devils in a state of disarray, there is a good feeling in camp at Thorp Arch ahead of the eagerly anticipated showdown.
When previewing the game, Farke provided a moment of comic relief when sharing an anecdote about midfielder Ao Tanaka.
It was what happened at the end of the press conference that really tickled BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope, though.
What did Daniel Farke do to cause hilarity in Leeds United's presser?
In his press conference Farke told how during a training session he told Tanaka not to wear gloves.
The German claimed Leeds were training in 25 degrees weather, and does not want to give any indication that his players lack toughness.
Following his chat with the media, Pope revealed how Farke requested that journalists did not go too hard on the Tanaka story.
However, the story was already out in the wild on social media by the time Farke had made his request.
Pope saw the funny side of the situation, as he revealed what happened when speaking on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast.
"Well, it was just hilarious because like he says we want everybody to be strong in training like match day, all this sort of thing," Pope said.
"And then so he does that, and then he gets up at the end of the press conference, he goes 'oh, by the way, don't go too hard on Ao about the gloves'.
"So, I look down at the phone and then Lewis, who's dissolving, he's done a quote tweet about Ao Tanaka wearing gloves straight away. Retweet, out it goes."
BBC colleague Jonathan Buchan replied: "Too late, it's already out there in the public domain.
"So, Ao Tanaka came out for training in 25 degree degree weather, I'm not sure it was 25 degrees this week, but I get the point he's making in warm weather, wearing gloves.
"And Daniel Farke was like 'nah, take them off. We're not having that.' Fair play to him."
Daniel Farke setting high Leeds United standards
On the surface of it, you could be forgiven for thinking his demand for Tanaka to take off his gloves is a little trivial.
But it is all about optics, and Farke wants to make sure his team are ready for the moments in the season when things get tough and becomes a grind.
And sometimes it is all about the finer details and instilling an inner strength in the squad.
It's not like he piled into Tanaka, it was just a story about the sort of high standards he is demanding at Leeds.
Objectively speaking, though, it is pretty funny to tell that story then immediately tell everyone not to make a big deal out of it...
