Leeds United target and Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo will be available for less than £17million this summer, claims Alfredo Pedulla.

The Gazetta dello Sport journalist reported that Lazio are among the frontrunners to sign the 23-year-old who's on annual wages of £1.7million which equates to £32,000-a-week.

Leeds are also expected to keep a close eye on this development, having previously scouted the dynamic winger. [The Daily Express]

Victor Orta has made a number of good deals in the past, and signing Brekalo for £17million would be a terrific move from the Leeds United director of football.

He's known to drive a good bargain and has an eye for up-and-coming players on the cusp of reaching the next level.

We've scouted the player previously so there's understood to be genuine interest from the decision-makers at the club to get him to Elland Road this summer.

Signing him will certainly not be easy, especially given that Lazio are looking like favourites to secure his services.

Maurizio Sarri, much like Bielsa, is a manager that players enjoy working under, so the Argentine may have a tough time convincing him to join.

Hopefully, the lure of playing in the Premier League, over a less competitive league like Serie A will be enough to tempt the player to move to Elland Road.

Brekalo's a talented winger who's capable of confusing defenders with his trickery and low centre of gravity.

He's been a mainstay in the Croatian national team both for the 2018 FIFA World up as well as Euro 2020 and despite being only 23-years-old, he's already amassed close to 30 caps for his country.

The 23-year-old has also drawn comparisons to Arjen Robben [The Daily Express] and we're certain Bielsa will take his game to the next level at Thorp Arch.

Much like Raphinha's he's got quick feet and the ability to play on either side of the field. His direct running causes nightmares for the opposition and he could be a perfect fit under Marcelo Bielsa who likes his players to constantly be moving with and without the ball.

Helder Costa's future is also up in the air while there has been no concrete update on Noa Lang so it's important that we sign Brekalo as Wolfsburg are open to selling him.

He's expected to share playing time with Jack Harrison and Raphinha, but given the long-drawn league season, all three can expect to play in most if not all games that they're fit for.

Bielsa runs his players to their limit during games and isn't afraid to make substitutions early on in the game, either.
