Lucas Perri footage proves 49ers have taken £13.5m gamble at Leeds United
Lucas Perri is finally starting to show positive signs at Torino.
The Brazilian was sent away on loan by Leeds United this summer, after a forgetful first season in England.
After several errors following his move from Lyon, Perri ended the season behind Karl Darlow at Elland Road.
It even prompted the 49ers Enterprises to shatter the transfer record at Leeds and sign James Trafford.
Despite very little chance of him starting again in LS11, a decision was made to sign off on a loan.
It's yet another gamble taken by the 49ers in their pursuit to make Leeds competitive in the Premier League.
What are the terms of Lucas Perri's loan?
As usual, a small loan fee was paid by Torino.
With the transfer delayed by Leeds' pursuit of Trafford taking its time, Marseille sensed an opportunity.
Perri gave his word to Torino, though, and eventually made it happen.
Included in the loan was a £13.5million option to buy, which actually increased as negotiations continued.
It's said to be a heavy financial pressure for Torino, though, so it's not guaranteed that it will happen.
49ers have taken huge gamble
There have been some smart decisions with loans this summer.
Joel Piroe's loan will turn permanent if West Ham are promoted, while Largie Ramazani has an appearance clause in his loan at Burnley to sign for longer.
Both are expected.
But for Perri, he simply has to prove that he is good enough and worth that money for it to happen.
And finally, he's proving himself, with Torino's latest victory a 3-0 success away at Parma in Serie A.
Earning several plaudits, watching the highlights still won't fill Leeds fans with confidence.
One occasion came where he attempted a clearance but only managed to kick it 30 yards, before a couple of passes saw a clear shot on goal.
He pulled off a really impressive save, but it was his error at first making it a 'zero-to-hero' style moment.
That reflected his entire year at Leeds.
Perri simply needs to find consistency, and after his very high-profile start packed with errors, he needs to go back to basics.
Hopefully, this clean sheet is the start of that and the confidence it brings will be enough for Leeds and the 49ers to cash in.
