Leeds United's Harry Gray made his eighth appearance for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The 18-year-old forward left Leeds this summer to join Wednesday on a season-long loan deal.

He spent last term out on loan with Rotherham in the third tier, as the Whites continue to source him regular senior football.

Many around Elland Road believe Gray can have a first-team future in LS11, but much of that will depend on the success of his loan stints.

Sheffield Wednesday are a massive club at League One level, so this move is a great one for Gray in terms of playing under fan expectation.

And on Saturday afternoon, the Hillsborough faithful clearly enjoyed what they witnessed in a 5-0 win.

What was said about Harry Gray's display in Sheffield Wednesday vs Wimbledon?

Sheffield Wednesday looked to keep up with the early play-off pace in League One on 17 October.

Henrik Pedersen's side welcomed Wimbledon to Hillsborough in a 3pm kick-off.

The Owls thrashed the Dons by five goals, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine.

Gray scored Wednesday's third of the afternoon just before half-time, and in turn, also netted his first in blue and white stripes.

The Star said of his performance: "A hard-working display, particularly off the ball, which was capped with his first goal for the club when he finished high into the net for Wednesday's third.

"Came off to a standing ovation and his name being sung from the stands. Eight."

Gray will hope this is the first of many for Sheffield Wednesday this season, but what did he say after his milestone afternoon?

What did Gray write on social media after Sheffield Wednesday goal?

Such is customary for many players in modern football, a big performance is often marked with a social media post.

In the hours after Sheffield Wednesday's thumping win and his first goal for them, Gray did exactly that.

Posting to his Instagram account, Gray wrote: "Good day at Hillsborough."

Leeds hero and current Owls defender Liam Cooper replied: "Different class."

Meanwhile, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Archie Gray, Wilfried Gnonto, Patrick Bamford, Illan Meslier, Joe Rothwell and Stuart Dallas all liked Gray's post.

After some good performances of late without a goal, Gray will be delighted to finally see his hard work rewarded this weekend.

The challenge for the young Leeds marksman is to stay consistent, and follow that up with another big display against Notts County on Tuesday.

If he does, Whites boss Daniel Farke will no doubt be paying strong attention to the teenager's form at Hillsborough with next season in mind.
