Paul Robinson believes Daniel Farke will wait until the summer to hold talks with Luca Thomas over his Leeds United future.

The 20-year-old striker is currently on loan at National League outfit York City on a three-month deal, where he has scored twice in nine appearances since October.

Thomas has yet to make his first-team debut for the Whites, having notched 12 goals and five assists in 30 Under-21s appearances, but that could change ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: "York City are having a fantastic season and Luca Thomas has been a part of that. That's exactly what the loan system is about, going out and getting experience - that's what it is for him.

"It's not to show the manager and other people what he can do because that's already well-known at the club. He needs to play in a league where there are crowds, where results matter.

Luca Thomas to be handed Leeds United first team chance?

"That experience is invaluable. It's working out to be a great loan for him but the manager won't have the conversation until pre-season about what to do with him next year."

With MOT Leeds News understanding that Joe Gelhardt is keen to move away from Elland Road in January, it is possible that a spot could open up for Thomas in the first team.

The young forward has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road, with Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford all ahead of him.

Charlie Crew, Sam Chambers and Joseph have all made very different impacts in the senior set-up but have all been given their chance to impress under Farke.

While the 20-year-old may only have National League experience under his belt, Farke has a decision to make about the youngster's future once his current loan deal finishes.
