Leeds United won't be overly pleased to see Noah Okafor left out for Switzerland once again at the World Cup.

The 26-year-old is coming off the back of a great first campaign in the Premier League after his summer move from AC Milan.

He netted eight Premier League goals from just 19 starts and a further nine substitute appearances.

That was enough to land him a spot on the plane to North America for the summer tournament.

There will have been hope that he would add to his 25 caps for the national team, but that hasn't been the case.

Okafor is yet to feature for the Swiss at the World Cup, with the latest snub going against what's been said.

Switzerland boss Murat Yakin ignores Noah Okafor after 'opportunity' comment

The first outing of the tournament saw the Red Crosses play out a 1-1 draw with Qatar.

That was a poor result for Murat Yakin's side, proven by Canada's 6-0 win against the same opponent on matchday two.

It was clear that the head coach was still happy with his starting XI, but suggested their would still be chances for new faces.

He said: "I’d field exactly the same line-up against Qatar again. That worked very well.

"But now we’re facing a different opponent with a different tactic. That also presents an opportunity to make some changes."

That will have left Okafor feeling excited, but in the end it made no difference to his game time.

Leeds star Okafor may be furious after Switzerland vs Bosnia

Yakin actually made two changes to his starting XI to face Bosnia as Silvan Widmer and Fabian Rieder replaced Ruben Vargas and Denis Zakaria.

There was still no opportunity for the Leeds man from the start, even if three new faces were given the chance off the bench.

Okafor was left to watch on as a substitute once again as his opportunity went away once more.

It would be fair for him to be massively frustrated, especially after Yakin's pre-match comment.

The manager seems to have ignored that and has opted not to give the Leeds man his chance to impress on the world stage.
