Leeds United had reportedly sounded out Celta Vigo left-back Javi Galan over a move to Elland Road last summer.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo (April 6, Pg.12), Barcelona manager Xavi along with Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also keen on the 27-year-old's services.

However, now that he's at Celta, the La Liga side are unwilling to part ways with him after he's had a terrific season for them.

Must rekindle interest

The Whites signed Junior Firpo last summer and there was some excitement among the Elland Road faithful.

They thought that they were getting a Spain international who got good years of experience at FC Barcelona.

However, it's fair to say that the defender has struggled in his first Premier League season.

Defensively, he's been all over the place and hasn't contributed too much in the final third either.

In Galan, they will get someone who's also attack-minded, as he's known for his acceleration but also someone who's got the eye of the needle passing ability.

Breaking The Lines did an analytical piece on him and waxed lyrical over his 'Dangerous' through balls that can split open defences.

A move to the Premier League is certainly more tempting than playing for Celta Vigo so it remains to be seen if Leeds re-enter the race for him.

However, given Barcelona's interest, it seems that if the player is on the move, he would fancy a Camp Nou switch and become Jordi Alba's successor at the club.
