Leeds United will be keeping a close eye on any transfer rumblings regarding former defender Charlie Cresswell.

The Whites sold the academy graduate to Ligue 1 Toulouse side back in 2024 but had the foresight to include a sell-on clause.

Cresswell has been performing at a high level in the French top flight, and that has brought on plenty of Premier League interest.

Brighton are said to be in the mix, while West Ham were also tracking the Englishman before their relegation.

However, a new transfer update from Fabrizio Romano is excellent news for Leeds' chances of landing a significant windfall from Cresswell.

How much could Leeds United make on Charlie Cresswell's sale?

Daniel Farke may have some regrets over the decision to let Cresswell leave Elland Road, but that does not mean he would have had the same trajectory as he has had in France.

Cresswell has gone from strength to strength in terms of his on-pitch performances, and it has left Toulouse in a strong position over his future.

According to transfer guru Romano, Toulouse have now increased their previous asking price for the English defender. In January, the French outfit rejected €23million (£19.9million) bid.

Leeds, who have a sell-on clause for Cresswell, will certainly be delighted at that outcome.

The Whites are set to receive 15 per cent of any profit made on the 23-year-old, with the original fee thought to be around £3.8m.

So, at the original bid of £19.9m, the Whites were set to earn roughly £2.41m. Now, they could see a sizeable increase in that income.

The 49ers will certainly be pleased.

Could Leeds go back in for Charlie Cresswell?

Leeds, in theory, could go back in for Cresswell. After all, the sell-on clause means they would get some sort of discount on any price they pay.

However, at the moment, centre-back targets appear to be elsewhere. Wolves' Ladislav Krejci looks to be a concrete target, but the Whites will have to wait until after the World Cup for that move to go ahead.

There have been no reports that Cresswell is on Leeds' radar currently.

Meanwhile, defender Sebastiaan Bornauw is almost certain to depart Elland Road after failing to make his imprint in Farke's plans.

Krejci could perhaps be the replacement, and that cash injection from Cresswell would help for that deal.
