Leeds United have been mooted for automatic promotion this season despite losing 1-0 at Millwall by Johnnie Jackson, live on BBC Radio London.

Jackson, currently manager of AFC Wimbledon, took to the channel's airwaves [via BBC Sport live text, 6 November] during Wednesday's (6 November) contest at The Den.

The prediction was made despite Daniel Farke's side trailing to Japhet Tanganga's goal, denying a chance to move into the top two, which is how proceedings ended.

"We've said it so many times but despite the scoreline Leeds have the tools to get promoted this year, and get back to the Premier League where they belong," Jackson said.

Leeds United still look destined for promotion

Leading into the loss in South London on Wednesday night, Leeds had lost just one of their first 13 games in the Championship, and were unbeaten on the road.

Although some difficult displays have reared their heads in the process, Farke's side have largely shown plenty of quality and will undoubtedly be in the promotion hunt until the end.

The small squad the German is operating with has often been cause for concern among the Elland Road faithful, although they have survived several injury scares so far, including the long-term absences of Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Max Wober.

The Whites dominated as usual at Millwall but were just unable to find the crucial cutting edge from the quality they possess, and must be able to execute it more efficiently to ensure they avoid the drama and heartache of the play-offs this time around.

Queens Park Rangers, desperately struggling towards the bottom end of the Championship, are Leeds' final opponents before the third international break of the season [9 November]; a triple header in six days then rounds off November against Swansea, Luton and Blackburn.
