Leeds star Noah Okafor paid ultimate disrespect by media after Switzerland win vs Algeria

Leeds United star Noah Okafor continues to be dealt a poor hand at the World Cup.

The Switzerland international earned himself a call-up to the tournament after returning to the national team midway through the season.

His form at Elland Road helped him claim that spot as he had a positive debut year in the Premier League.

That hasn't translated onto the world stage as his minutes have been severely limited by Murat Yakin.

The 26-year-old was given his only opportunity of the summer so far as he came on in the early hours of Friday morning against Algeria.

That didn't translate into top reviews from the media as Okafor continues to be disrespected away from LS11.

The extended number of teams featuring at the World Cup has opened up a round of 32.

That has seen an extra game enter the calendar before being able to reach the round of 16.

Switzerland didn't let that get in their way as they secured a 2-0 win over Algeria on Friday.

Goals from Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye made the difference in Vancouver to send the Swiss through.

Okafor was brought on with less than 20 minutes to go and didn't pick up a single review from the media.

Maxifoot published a player ratings at full-time and left the Leeds man as "not rated".

That was only echoed by Sengo, who also didn't mention him at all, while Sofoot did exactly the same.

Even with the attacker picking up his most minutes of the World Cup so far, he couldn't catch a break.

How did Leeds star Okafor perform vs Algeria?

The 26-year-old was afforded 19 minutes of action in Canada, having sat and watched the first three games without getting a kick.

Okafor came on with his side already 2-0 up and in the driving seat, so the game was ebbing out.

That didn't benefit his game as he took just 16 touches throughout his cameo.

He translated that into a 70 per cent pass accuracy while his only attempted shot was blocked inside the box.

The Leeds man did win two tackles and three duels, which is obviously a plus point.

That clearly wasn't enough to impress the media, as disrespect continues to surround the 26-year-old in North America.
