Leeds gem Jayden Lienou has ideal chance to grab Daniel Farke's attention after Wales announcement
Leeds United gem Jayden Lienou is looking to fully break into the first team at Elland Road and may soon get a chance to do so.
Joining from Manchester City last year the 18-year-old defender impressed enough to be named part of Daniel Farke's matchday squad as Leeds took on Tottenham and Brighton in May.
He is yet to register a professional minute yet, though the talent and trust in him is most clearly there.
Ascending to the Premier League last May, the Whites secured survival with an experienced core thanks to the strong recruitment of last summer.
With a spot confirmed for the coming season, Farke may be aiming to begin bringing through younger talent to future-proof his side.
With this in mind, defender Lienou could be one of the first in line after the latest Wales announcement.
Wales announcement will have Daniel Farke excited for Jayden Lienou prospects
Making 27 academy appearances in the 2025-26 season, Lienou is highly regarded within the Leeds setup.
Having also been selected as part of Farke's matchday squad towards the end of the season, he has also been involved at international level with Wales, having been selected by Craig Bellamy for the recent friendlies - making the bench against Ghana.
Now, he is set for a big summer of football, with the defender set to take part in the Under-19 European Championships with the Welsh national team.
With Farke potentially looking to make use of him next season, a golden opportunity has been handed to the young defender.
He may return slightly late for pre-season, with the tournament taking place between 28 June and 11 July, but this could be worth it, should he return and further impress the Whites boss in pre-season.
Daniel Farke to have one clear goal as Leeds progress
In the summer of 2025, Leeds were the only side across the Premier League to bring in players solely over the age of 25.
This worked wonders, with Farke constructing a battle-ready squad, prepared to take on the ups and downs of the English top flight.
The Whites would suffer at times, but they were always able to bounce back - a testament to both the squad, and Farke's own adaptation.
As the West Yorkshire outfit aim to progress further in the division, future-proofing the side will be ever so important.
This is something that can start in house, with the likes of Lienou wanting to be ready to make an impact.
After a superb season, the path to further progression will come from smart recruitment, and strong use of the talent already on the books at Elland Road.
