Manchester United are aiming to reintroduce fans for their Premier League clash with Leeds United in two weeks time.

The game at Old Trafford is set to take place on the 20th of December, and our fierce rivals would like 2,000 fans present.

With the next government announcement set to take place in the week building up to the game, only then will it be confirmed if Manchester is in Tier 2.

Journalist Laurie Whitwell shared the news on his personal Twitter account on Friday evening, accompanied by a statement from the club.

Home fans will be located in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand and the Stretford End if sanctioned - we all remember the last goal we scored there.

Manchester United appear to be hopeful of this happening and could have already started their planning to get fans back in Lancashire.

Sky Sports have already shared that the Red Devils have started provisionally planning this, meaning they expect positive news from the government.

This could also be good news for Leeds and Yorkshire.

According to information on GOV.UK, Yorkshire and the North West have the exact same R-number of 0.7-0.9, meaning the Whites could also reintroduce fans against Burnley on the 27th.

Chelsea will have fans present for tomorrow's game, despite London's R-number being higher than ours at 0.9-1.1, but we won't go into that too much.

All signs are looking positive for fans returning at Elland Road, and should this happen at Old Trafford, we could be looking at a Christmas treat in the shape of live football against Burnley.
