Leeds United came up short in a valiant effort against Arsenal on Saturday.

Last season, the Whites lost their two games against the eventual champions by an aggregate score of 9-0.

But on this occasion, Leeds gave a much better fist of things, and went ahead through James Justin's strike.

Unfortunately, goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes earned a comeback 2-1 win for the Gunners.

Leeds impressed with how they performed, though, and they still sit seventh after their first league defeat of the season.

Tarik Muharemovic impressed again at the heart of defence, and it was during analysis of his performance that Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix had BBC Radio Leeds reporter Jonathan Buchan in stitches.

What did Simon Rix say about Tarik Muharemovic and Viktor Gyokeres?

Buchan and Rix were discussing Leeds' defeat on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast.

During one discussion, Buchan quoted stats provided by X account LUFCDATA about Muharemovic's performance.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international finished with 10 clearances, with eight of those being made after the 61st minute.

Additionally, Muharemovic won five of his seven aerial duels and completed 47 of his 50 passes (94%).

When Buchan relayed this information, Rix quipped back about coming up against Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres.

"I mean after 61 minutes, right? It was only against Gyokeres wasn't it, so it's easy," Rix joked.

"I could probably defend against him. When James Trafford came out and it's an open goal but he didn't get a shot away, he was rubbish."

Buchan fellow presenter Adam Pope were left in stitches, though Rix quickly added that he was joking.

Tarik Muharemovic earning interest already

Leeds only signed Muharemovic this summer, forking out £34million to sign the defender from Sassuolo.

He has made a huge impression at Elland Road, becoming a firm fans' favourite already at the heart of defence.

It has led to suggestions that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are already tracking the 23-year-old.

It is not a surprise that he is earning interest given how well he has taken to the Premier League.

But Leeds must resist any overtures for now, because if they are to start muscling in on the conversation for European football then Muharemovic is going to be crucial to that.
