Jon Newsome has slammed Ebou Adams for throwing himself to the floor in the first half of the Championship clash between Leeds United and Derby.

The Whites had a free-kick near the edge of the Rams' box and as Brenden Aaronson stepped up to take it, Adams fell to the floor after getting in a bit of a tussle with Ethan Ampadu.

The score is currently sat at 0-0 with Leeds seeming to be on the front foot for most of the game thus far.

Speaking live on BBC Radio Leeds (29 December, 17:54pm), Newsome shared his thoughts on Adams' antics.

"That's pathetic, Adams is trying to mark Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu just comes out to try and block him and he just throws himself on the floor," he said.

Leeds United need to prove their dominance over Derby County

This season, Leeds have been touted as one of the teams to earn automatic promotion with calls for a title charge even being mooted.

At the moment, the Whites are at the top of the table after second-placed Sheffield United drew 1-1 with West Brom earlier in the day on Sunday.

Although both Yorkshire outfits have the same points tally at half-time of Leeds' game against Derby, it feels like they could easily extend their lead by getting themselves a goal or two.

Daniel Farke chose to start a fairly strong team at Pride Park with the likes of Willy Gnonto and Largie Ramazani forming half of their attacking quartet.

If the Whites don't come away with a win on Sunday, it feels like they will have missed a golden opportunity to further cement their spot at the top of the table.

Only time will tell what the second half of the Championship clash has in store but at the moment, it feels like Farke's men need to take things up a gear or two.
