Jesse Marsch takes swipe at Leeds United fans as American features in comical new meme
Jesse Marsch has responded to Leeds United fans after finding himself at the centre of a comical meme.
The American manager was sacked by Leeds in February 2023 after just under a year in charge at Elland Road.
Marsch was given the boot with the Whites 17th in the table and they ultimately failed to stay up, with Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce failing.
Leeds fans remain bitter at the 52-year-old, who departed with a record of 11 wins, 10 draws and 16 defeats.
He is now in charge of the Canadian national side and oversaw their run to the World Cup last 16.
But it is fair to say he is still well remembered by the Leeds fanbase three-and-a-half years after his exit, albeit for the wrong reasons.
What has Jesse Marsch said about Leeds fans?
Marsch is not afraid to share his views on Leeds topics, most recently discussing the Manchester City charges in relation to the Whites.
He is also active on social media, including on X, with his account unverified but followed by just short of 80,000 people.
And Marsch responded to one Leeds fan who included the American as part of a meme.
A graphic of "the 50 most hated people in the world" was altered to include Marsch's name and face at number 35.
Marsch could not resist as he quoted the tweet in question and said: "Check out number 35. I'd say Leeds fans have a little too much time on their hands!"
A couple of laughing face emojis were including, showing that he could see the funny side.
How does Marsch's record compare to other Leeds managers?
Across his 37 matches, Marsch departed Leeds with a win rate of 29.73 per cent.
That is the eighth-worst return of any permanent Leeds manager to have taken charge of 10 games or more.
Marsch's successor Gracia, incidentally, is one of those with a win rate of 25 per cent.
Current Leeds incumbent Daniel Farke is second only to Don Revie on the list with a win rate of 50 per cent, compared to 53.31 per cent for the latter.
Some would say enough water has passed under the bridge to move on from Marsch, but Leeds fans are not a forgiving bunch - as this meme goes to show.
