Jean-Matteo Bahoya leaves Daniel Farke with no more excuses at Leeds United after France U21s exploits

Jean-Matteo Bahoya has yet to be given a real chance to impress at Leeds United.

The Whites signed the winger on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt just six minutes before this summer transfer window's deadline.

The 21-year-old has made just one appearance since joining Leeds, which was a single minute plus stoppage time in the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace before the break.

Supporters have demanded that Daniel Farke gives Bahoya more playing time, but the German head coach has insisted that patience is key.

The forward was called up to France's U21s squad ahead of their EURO qualification matches, playing 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Iceland on Friday.

Bahoya featured once more for France's U21s this Tuesday, and his performance has only justified Leeds fans even further.

Though he started on the bench in France's 2-0 win over Estonia, he was introduced sooner than expected in the game after Ethan Mbappe, brother of Kylian Mbappe, was forced to leave the pitch after 12 minutes.

Bahoya then took his chance, scoring in the second half to give his side a comfortable two-goal lead.

He scored a lovely left-footed strike from outside the box, curling the ball low and hard past the goalkeeper, who had little chance of stopping his effort.

Bahoya is clearly match fit, and his goal surely leaves Farke with no more excuses now.

How Bahoya could already prevent what Leeds do in winter market

Bahoya is nine appearances away from triggering a clause in his loan contract that would see him join the Whites permanently.

The reported fee is said to be £25.7million, which will only add to the 49ers' outgoing expenses this season.

Paraag Marathe has already admitted that it will take another two seasons in the Premier League until the club can operate how they would like to in the market, and the last winter window was an indication of the limits that are in place.

However, if Bahoya can get game time and start performing well for Leeds, it may give Leeds fewer reasons to act in the winter window this season.
