Jayden Bogle's first season at Leeds United has helped the Elland Road faithful forget all about the sale of Archie Gray last summer.

Bogle signed for Leeds from Sheffield United for £5million in July and has established himself as one of the first names on Daniel Farke's team sheet this term, with United sitting top of the Championship.

With 30 league starts from a possible 32, and four goals under his belt in the white shirt while providing a constant attacking threat, it's fair to say Bogle has provided much more than Gray did from right-back in an attacking sense.

The 24-year-old's individual effort in Leeds' 2-0 win at Coventry underlined just how integral Bogle is to Leeds' promotion push, and even higher honours than the Premier League could be in store.

Jayden Bogle listed for England call after Leeds United form

Not only has Bogle proven himself to be arguably the Championship's best right-back, he's now been touted for a shock call-up by England, and is seen as more likely to earn one than Gray at present.

The CIES Football Observatory has compiled a list of 10 players under 25 who are the "most deserving" of an England call-up, with none other than Bogle fourth in the standings.

With Gray down in eighth, Bogle was behind only Elliot Anderson, Jamie Gittens and Keane Lewis-Potter in the list, and as the only right-back among the 10 names, his chances could be better than anticipated.

England cap would be just reward for Jayden Bogle at Leeds United

Although Bogle is joined in the CIES Football observatory's 10-player list by two other Championship players – Sam McCallum and Jobe Bellingham – he's ahead of the pair in the pecking order.

England have had almost too many right-backs to choose from in recent years, but with Kieran Trippier's international retirement, Kyle Walker aging, Reece James injury-prone and Trent Alexander-Arnold being seen as more of a central-midfielder, a spot could well open up.

With the Whites sat top of the Championship, ahead of McCallum's Sheffield United and Bellingham's Sunderland side, Bogle is on course to become a Premier League player by the end of the campaign.

Achieving that status will surely bring Bogle into the eyeline of new England manager Thomas Tuchel, who as a manager fond of playing with wing-backs, may see Bogle as perfect for his Three Lions system.

Kalvin Phillips became an England regular almost as soon as United were promoted in 2020, and given the rate at which Bogle is blossoming in Farke's system this season, he could well be set to follow suit.
