Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been praised by Jamie Carragher for his performances at Euro 2020.

Phillips has started in every game for England at the EUROs and prior to the Ukraine clash was the only outfielder to play every minute for the Three Lions.

However, as Gareth Southgate saw his side cruise to victory, he opted to substitute the tireless Leeds midfielder.

His performances haven't gone unnoticed as Carragher waxed lyrical of him in his recent column for The Daily Telegraph.

He wrote, "[England players] are modern professionals, approachable and likeable.

"It is impossible for me to watch Harry Maguire leading the defence, Kalvin Phillips making a name for himself in midfield and the rise of Harry Kane to superstar status and not to be enthused by their stories."

Sensational season

From minute one of this past season, Phillips has enjoyed his game and we have enjoyed watching him. It's a shame that fans could not be allowed inside Elland Road as the Yorkshire Pirlo is certainly one who can get the fans singing from start to end.

He's one of Marcelo Bielsa's first names on the team sheet and now Gareth Southgate has also started rating him so highly.

Who thought that when Bielsa walked through the door three seasons ago that Phillips would be starting a semi-final for his country, but here we are.

He has proven time and again that hard work and perseverance can take you anywhere. Benching a big name like Jordan Henderson certainly tells you that Phillips is a force to be reckoned it.

We're certain that he has two more midfield clinics at Wembley in him and we can't wait to see him square off against Denmark and then hopefully against Italy in the final.
