Harrogate Town reportedly want to sign Leeds United youngster Max Dean on loan this summer.

According to BBC journalist Adam Pope, the 18-year-old attacker has been linked with a move to the League Two outfit in this transfer window.

The teenager will be entering the final year of his contract as his current deal expires at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Via his Twitter account, Pope wrote, "League Two Harrogate Town understood to be interested in a loan deal for Leeds United striker Max Dean. Nothing confirmed yet.

"Dean, 18, has a year left on his contract at Elland Road."

Extend then loan him out

Dean is one of the rising stars of the Leeds academy and was on the cusp of breaking into the first team in the 2021/22 campaign.

Given the number of injuries in the first-team squad, many felt that his senior debut was round the corner, but it did not happen.

He has been tipped to be the breakout star at Thorp Arch and has earned multiple praises from Mark Jackson who used to be the Under-23s head coach.

With just a year left on his deal, it does make sense to tie him down until 2024 at the very least so that he can go out on loan and focus on his development rather than his career at Elland Road.

If he's rated so highly by Jackson and has backed it up playing for the junior sides, there's no reason why a new deal will not be on the cards for him.

Dean is an extremely versatile player who can play in any of the three attacking positions - which is an important facet - especially at that age.

Leeds must not let go of this supremely talented youngster.
