Gary Lineker offers one Leeds United guarantee already ahead of Man United battle
Gary Lineker knows life is not going to get any easier for Manchester United when they make the trip to Leeds United next weekend.
The Whites host their fierce rivals at Elland Road in a 2pm kickoff next Sunday.
For the first time in more than 24 years, Leeds will face Man United in a league fixture while being above them in the table.
Leeds may have tasted their first Premier League loss of the campaign last time out, but Daniel Farke's men are sitting seventh in the table.
The Red Devils are three points worse off in 13th after making their worst start to a season in 40 years.
That has only increased the pressure on Michael Carrick ahead of the showdown in West Yorkshire.
Alan Shearer in agreement with Gary Lineker on Leeds
Leeds earned a lot of praise for their display against Arsenal, having deservedly gone ahead in the second half.
The Gunners showed why they are the best team in the world right now, though, by scoring twice in quick succession to win 2-1.
Farke's men will be desperate to bounce back next weekend in what is the standout Elland Road fixture of the season.
Speaking on The Rest is Football on Monday, Lineker praised the Whites and added: "They've got something. They'll certainly cause United trouble next weekend."
Alan Shearer was also impressed and agreed Man United will not find life easy.
"They more than matched Arsenal and went 1-0 up. That was the kick up the backside for Arsenal, then the substitutions came on and the quality told."
The advantage Leeds have over Man United
Leeds will consider themselves favourites to win this game, even if that goes against the norm in this fixture down the years.
There is no hiding away from the fact Man United have been terrible, while Leeds have been very tough to beat.
Another factor that works in Leeds' favour is they have eight days' rest between fixtures.
Man United, meanwhile, are away at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Fatigue could well be an issue on the back of the international break, so that is something Farke and his players must take full advantage of.
