Chris Sutton has predicted Leeds United will win promotion back to the Premier League in the upcoming season.

Making his predictions for the campaign on page 69 of the Daily Mail's print edition on 4 August, the Sky Sports pundit said Daniel Farke will be the key behind the Whites' success as he has won promotion twice before with Norwich City.

Alongside Leeds, Sutton tipped Leicester City and Southampton to regain their Premier League status after they were also both relegated last season.

"Daniel Farke won promotion twice at Norwich and he'll do it again at Leeds," said Sutton.

High expectations

It seems as though there are high expectations being placed on Leeds for next season after all four of the Daily Mail's "experts" predicted that the club will go straight back up next year.

There also seems to be a theme around Farke, who journalist Tom Collomosse refers to as a "promotion specialist" following his previous Championship experience, which will no doubt be crucial as the season goes on.

All four predictions also include Leicester as they have managed to so far keep a lot of players at the King Power Stadium despite going down.

It wasn't the strongest league last season after Burnely and Sheffield United both amassed more than 90 points to run away with promotion, while third-placed Luton secured their place in the top flight through the playoffs [Sky Sports].

But it's hard to see all three relegated sides regain their Premier League status as a couple of the predictions suggest because there is often one team that struggles more than the others and it can be a difficult league.

There is clearly a strong feeling that the Whites will be right up there, though, and they will be hoping to get off to a strong start when the season gets underway this weekend.
