Calvert-Lewin shares what Jayden Bogle told him after 'scandalous' decision in Leeds United win vs Newcastle

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was in sensational form as Leeds United routed Newcastle United on Monday.

The Whites went third in the Premier League with an outstanding 4-1 win at Elland Road.

However, England striker Calvert-Lewin had a bee in his bonnent over one decision.

The 29-year-old thought he had scored Leeds' second with an emphatic header from James Justin's outstanding cross.

However, it was later deemed that his effort had clipped Jayden Bogle on the way in, and the goal was awarded to the Leeds wing-back.

Calvert-Lewin has now taken to social media to share what Bogle told him after the game.

Leeds absolutely bullied Newcastle on home turf, and went ahead when Ao Tanaka's strike hit Sean Steur and Lewis Miley to wrong foot Lukas Hornicek.

Two minutes later the contentiously awarded (in terms of who got credited) second goal put Leeds in cruise control.

Calvert-Lewin did have a deserved goal on the stroke of half-time, when he sat down Sven Botman and coolly slotted home.

Noah Okafor then executed a brilliant effort for Leeds' fourth, after a long throw-in from Ethan Ampadu was not cleared properly.

There was a funny moment before the second-half kicked off when Calvert-Lewin looked on in disbelief after being informed by referee Michael Salisbury that the Premier League had awarded the goal to Bogle.

After the game, Calvert-Lewin posted on Instagram to jokingly call the decision "scandalous".

Posting a picture of himself with Bogle, Calvert-Lewin wrote: "He's just told me it didn't touch him. How do I appeal this scandalous decision @premierleague?"

It was an absolutely textbook performance from Calvert-Lewin, who just physically dominated Botman and Malick Thiaw.

The former Everton man was crucial to the victory, leading the line brilliantly and allowing space for Leeds' other creative outlets to flourish.

Manager Daniel Farke waxed lyrical about Calvert-Lewin's performance, hailing what he brings to this Leeds side.

In quotes reported on BBC Sport's website, Farke said: "He plays with confidence, his fitness is up. I expect him to lead the group.

"He's taken responsibility, never in doubt that he scores goals. It's not just the goals though, the way he plays is outstanding. He's one of the standout strikers in this league."
