Leeds and Brentford will be without significant players when the sides meet on Sunday afternoon.

Daniel Farke will be looking for Leeds to combat the Bees' set-piece threat, which is a different challenge to what they have faced recently.

Farke eased sack pressure at Leeds, with victory over Chelsea and a draw with Liverpool handing the Whites an unexpected four points in a tough period.

The West London side provide a new test though, and a new issue may cause issues for the Elland Road outfit.

Farke confirms Lukas Nmecha absence for Brentford vs Leeds

Farke confirmed that Lukas Nmecha will be out for Leeds in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game.

Speaking on 12 December, he said: “It’s difficult. First, he needs to return to team training. Hopefully that’s as soon as possible, but we’ll decide game to game.”

That will provide the German manager with a dilemma, as Nmecha has been a critical factor in the Whites' positive recent run.

  • Nmecha had started four of Leeds' last five matches
  • He missed the draw with Liverpool
  • He has four goals in 14 matches in the league

Dan James and Sean Longstaff are also set to be on the sidelines, as they are not expected to return until the new year.

Who will Brentford be missing for Leeds clash?

Brentford will be without Fabio Carvalho and Josh Dasilva, who remain out of action with long-term injuries.

German attacker Kevin Schade is ruled out, as he is suspended after picking up five yellow cards already this season.

  • Schade has three goals in 15 top-flight matches this season
  • He has also notched one assist in those games
  • He will be a big loss for the hosts

Keith Andrews was unsure whether Reiss Nelson would return for the contest, but suggested that he is trending in the right direction.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: "Reiss is doing pretty well, he took a knock a week or so ago, so we'll see how he shapes up for Sunday.

"He should be in and around being available for Sunday. We'll see how he goes over the next few days."

Both sides have their issues heading into the contest, but the LS11 outfit must get over their problems and secure victory at the G-Tech Community Stadium.

It is all well and good gaining points from the big teams, but if they do not take points from those around them, it will all be for nothing.
