Bosnian media lose their minds over Leeds defender Tarik Muharemovic in latest display vs Romania

Tarik Muharemovic played a vital role in Bosnia & Herzegovina's Nations League win over Romania on Monday night.

The Leeds United defender, who has impressed since joining the Whites from Sassuolo in the summer transfer window, scored his second senior international goal in the victory in a behind-closed-doors match in Bucharest.

After Armin Gigovic opened the scoring for Bosnia in the 12th minute, Muharemovic scored with a towering header from a corner kick seven minutes later.

Haris Tabakovic and Ermin Mamic were also on the scoresheet for Bosnia, while Daniel Birligea and Alexandru Cicaldau netted Romania's two goals.

Muharemovic's fine form is clearly translating across both his domestic and international appearances.

Bosnian news outlet SOP said that Muharemovic was the "player of the match", giving him a rating of 8.5/10 for his display in the Romanian capital.

Dnevni Avaz reported how the Leeds star "reacted perfectly" to score his header to make it 2-0 to Bosnia.

Reprezentacija also hailed Muharemovic's goal, saying that he "made a great leap" to get on the end of Ivan Basic's cross to score a header.

Continuing the praise for Muharemovic's goal, Meridian:sport said that it was a "sky-high" jump by the former Sassuolo defender that led to him scoring the header.

What did the stats say about Muharemovic's display in Romania?

Not only did Muharemovic score, he also impressed defensively for Bosnia & Herzegovina, despite conceding two goals.

Stats by Sofascore show that he completed a staggering 17 defensive contributions throughout the 90 minutes.

That included him winning both of the tackles he challenged for, making four interceptions, completing nine clearances and blocking two shots.

Muharemovic also won all three of the aerial duels he contended and won two of the four ground duels he was involved in.

On the ball, he had a pass accuracy of 88 per cent and had two shots at goal, with one of them finding the back of the net.
