Archie Gray has sent a supportive message to Georginio Rutter after his move from Leeds United to Brighton was announced.

The 22-year-old has joined the Seagulls in a £40million deal, as per Sky Sports, after the Premier League side triggered a clause in his contract.

Rutter was a key star for Daniel Farke last season, notching six goals and 15 assists as Leeds missed out on promotion from the Championship, which has seen several players leave Elland Road this summer.

The Frenchman shared an emotional goodbye to the Leeds faithful via Instagram on Monday (19 August), with Gray replying: "Good luck, my brother. Show them what you can do."

Leeds United lose another star in Georginio Rutter

Gray is another Leeds talent who found another home during the summer, joining Tottenham in a £30million deal after making 54 appearances in his first proper season at senior level.

Despite naturally being a midfielder, Farke needed to deploy his at right-back due to injury blows, but the 18-year-old thrived in the new position, earning himself a move to the Premier League.

It's a similar story for Crysencio Summerville, who has joined West Ham United, and Rutter is the newest player to make the step up to the Premier League after Leeds missed out on promotion.

The number of exits certainly comes as no surprise to the Elland Road faithful, though there is an underlying frustration because of the lack of reinforcements being readied by the club's hierarchy.

With only Alex Cairns, Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell and Jayden Bogle being signed so far this summer, Farke looks to be working with a very limited squad unless deals are done quickly before 30 August.

Time is ticking for the Whites to complete important business to replace the missing stars.
