'Another big step' - David Prutton predicts Leeds clash v West Brom
Up until Sunday, Leeds United were the only team to beat West Brom. The Whites winning and Middlesbrough claiming all three points meant that the two sides go into their clash on New Years Day equal on points.
With Leeds and the Baggies having a nine-point gap to third-placed Fulham, they will be hoping that at least one of the two sides drop points at the Hawthorns.
That is something former Leeds man David Prutton has claimed is likely to happen when they put their top-of-the-table status on the line.
Prutton has predicted the result of the crunch clash and has claimed it will be a 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns.
"Well, this should be a great game! Only goal difference separates the two sides at the top of the table heading into it, and whoever wins will be taking another big step towards automatic promotion," he wrote on his Sky Sports prediction blog.
"Leeds edged this one when the two sides met at Elland Road earlier in the season, and it's such a tough game to call. The sides below will hope it's a draw so both teams drop points, and I think both will."
Marcelo Bielsa or Slaven Bilic would both not be massively delighted with dropping points after recent results in the Championship. But, it would surely be the South American who would be the happier giving it is away from home.
Leeds came slightly unstuck in the Midlands last season, being dismantled 4-1 by the likes of Harvey Barnes and Dwight Gayle. West Brom have been the most dangerous side the Whites have faced this season, and three points here would surely kickstart a successful 2020.
