Andy Couzens has claimed that Leeds United currently have the upper hand over Fulham in the Championship promotion race this season.

The former Whites ace believes that the two side's remaining fixture list gives Leeds a massive upper hand, with the Cottagers still to play the likes of Marcelo Bielsa's men, West Brom and Brentford.

Leeds currently sit seven points ahead of Scott Parker's men, and a win over them at Elland Road on Wednesday could give them a big push towards promotion.

Couzens believes that four points from Leeds' next two fixtures will be enough for them to cement their spot in the top-two for the remaining games.

"We’ve got a decent run-in," he told Football League World.

"Fulham have got some very hard fixtures: Brentford this Friday, then Leeds. I think in total they’ve still got to play four of the top-six.

"The game on Friday is massive and Leeds will have eyes on that, but it’s a tough fixture for them down at Cardiff on Sunday.

"I’d take four points from these next two games; go to Cardiff and get a result and then beating Fulham at Elland Road would lay down a real marker."

Leeds fans will be massively confident for the next two games with the Whites currently on a five-match winning run - something that will make them favourites for the remaining fixtures.

According to Nate Silver, a prediction expert, Leeds stand a 98% chance of earning promotion to the Premier League and another three points in the clash with Fulham could see that get even higher [FiveThirtyEight].

Leeds are the in-form side in the Championship, hitting form at the exact right time - whisper it quietly, but they could be on their way back to the Premier League eventually.
