Alan Shearer isn't surprised to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the England squad as Leeds United face Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Whites' striker has been in fine form at the start of the new season, scoring four goals in the first four Premier League matches.

Pierre Sage's team are up next for Daniel Farke in LS11 on 20 September.

Elland Road will host Palace, who have lost three of their first four league matches.

Calvert-Lewin will surely like facing the Eagles, given they've conceded 11 goals in just four Premier League games.

The West Yorkshire outfit are coming off an impressive victory over Newcastle United and the former Magpie can only see one result at Elland Road.

Alan Shearer predicts Leeds United result vs Crystal Palace

Calvert-Lewin is in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the September-October international break.

Shearer believes the 29-year-old striker will be motivated to keep performing at a high level to remain a regular part of the national team setup going forward.

With Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins playing in Saudi Arabia, the former Everton attacker may have a decent chance at staking his claim with the Three Lions.

As for the result against Palace, Shearer can't see a way for the visitors to get anything at Elland Road, with the West Yorkshire outfit predicted to get the win.

Writing in the Metro on 18 September, Shearer said, "I guess other than Harry Kane, because he's got that spot for England, a motivation for Calvert-Lewin must be if he carries on, then the England manager won't be able to ignore him.

"He's a proper handful on his day. It doesn't surprise me to see him in the England squad, especially with Ollie Watkins moving abroad to Saudi Arabia."

Why Dominic Calvert-Lewin call-up will be bad news for Daniel Farke

With Leeds having only two natural strikers left after Joel Piroe and Joe Gelhardt's exits, Farke may not be too pleased about Calvert-Lewin's call-up.

The striker already has a history of picking up injuries and having to travel with the England squad certainly comes with a risk.

While Calvert-Lewin surely won't be Tuchel's first choice, he will want to test him out and give him minutes in competitive fixtures.

The Englishman is Farke's main weapon at Elland Road and fatigue could hinder his performances for the West Yorkshire outfit after the international break.
