Leeds United could be set for several changes during the summer transfer window and 49ers Enterprises will be looking to take advantage.

With Leeds missing out on promotion to the Premier League this season, the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto and Archie Gray have all been linked with exits.

A huge, albeit unspecified, windfall from the club's partnership with Red Bull means Leeds are in a strong financial position, even if some sales may be needed to ensure there is no flout of financial fair play rules.

The 49ers will be looking to raise funds to keep the balance sheets in order in multiple ways, while avoiding the need to sell too many of their top assets.

Cody Drameh, alongside several other returning loanees, is one player who could be sacrificed over the summer despite the club confirming he has been offered a new contract at Elland Road.

Following a decent season on loan with Birmingham City, some may see this as Daniel Farke welcoming the 22-year-old back to the squad. However, that may not be the real reason.

If a player under the age of 24 rejects a contract from their current club to sign elsewhere, they will be owed a compensation fee by the player's new team.

With Drameh being offered a new contract, Leeds can either benefit from him signing on by asking for a much higher transfer fee or receive a compensation fee should he reject the offer.

The 49ers must be praised for this. The 22-year-old is unlikely to force his way into Farke's plans, having only made a handful of appearances at Elland Road since arriving from Fulham in 2020.

So, in either eventuality, the Whites will make some money out of the player, who seemingly still has no future at the club.
