Cody Drameh is "most likely" to depart Leeds United this summer despite being offered a new contract at Elland Road, Beren Cross has said.

The 22-year-old full-back spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Birmingham City, making 30 appearances as the Blues were relegated to League One.

Leeds confirmed [7 June] that, following his loan in the Midlands, Drameh was one of four players offered a new contract, though it has not been reported whether he has put pen to paper yet.

"This 11th-hour contract offer has at least given a shard of light, but the most likely conclusion feels like an exit," Cross wrote.

Cody Drameh to depart Leeds United this summer despite contract offer

Drameh has never really established himself in the senior squad at Elland Road since arriving from Fulham in 2020, going straight into the club's academy set-up.

His chances of becoming a regular under Daniel Farke still remain slim despite the club offering him a new contract, and the laws surrounding young players would suggest the same.

Should a player under 24 years of age reject a contract offer from their existing club to sign elsewhere, that club would be owed a compensation fee.

It remains to be seen whether Drameh will put pen to paper on a new deal at Elland Road, though considering his lack of action with the Whites, it is understandably why some would predict a summer exit for the youngster.

There is no doubt that the full-back has potential, with the likes of Cardiff City, Luton Town and Birmingham all wanting the player on loan in recent seasons. He has struggled to make a telling impact at Leeds, though.

With three assists in the Championship this season, Drameh has the potential to be a decent attacking full-back, though it appears a different club will be acquiring his services this summer.
