Charlyann Pizzarello issues warning after 'absolutely phenomenal' Leeds United Women showing

Charlyann Pizzarello has warned the rivals of Leeds United Women that there is far more to come from her team after sweeping aside United of Manchester 4-1.

Four different players were on the scoresheet in Garforth on Wednesday (11 October) as Leeds returned to winning ways.

Leeds have now netted seven goals in their past two matches, and Pizzarello – among the goalscorers – believes she and her team-mates will continue scoring at a big rate.

“I think it shows we’re versatile and not relying on one player,” Pizzarello told LUTV (11 October, 24s) when asked about the goals being spread out.

“We’ve got more than just one in the team [who can score] and we’ve still got more to show.

“Our goals in training have been absolutely phenomenal – they’re just waiting to come out.”

Firepower

Leeds scored three times against Hull City LFC last weekend and yet still came away from the game with no points in a 4-3 loss.

On this occasion, though, they were able to stay solid enough at the back and pick up a fairly resounding victory against United of Manchester.

Simon Wood’s side have scored 17 goals in eight league games this season, which is bettered only by Hull (18).

More importantly, they have 16 points so far and sit third in the WPL Division One North, level with Hull and Barnsley, albeit having played two games more.

As Pizzarello pointed out, it is important that goals are spread out across the team, as has been the case for Leeds this season.

If they are to continue challenging at the top of the division, then more of the same is needed.
