Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray "found himself involved in an incident" while away representing England Under-19s, according to Joe Donnohue.

The journalist shared details of a coming together between Gray and Montenegro U19s player Stefan Dukanovic in an article for the Yorkshire Evening Post on Thursday (12 October).

Gray played the full 90 minutes as England drew 0-0 at DG Arena in Podgorica - the biggest flashpoint coming early in the second half.

In an article reviewing Gray's performance, Donnohue wrote: "Then, after the restart, Gray found himself involved in an incident with Montenegro's Stefan Dukanovic following a meaty challenge near the touchline.

"The pair exchanged pushes and shoves before the referee and other players intervened – both youngsters received a talking to by the official. Dukanovic was promptly substituted shortly thereafter."

Getting stuck in

Gray may only be aged 17, but he is not afraid to stand up for himself - as was the case in this international fixture on Wednesday (11 October).

The Leeds academy product came through the match unscathed, but England U19s have two more games to play before club action resumes.

One of those is against Wales, who have a certain Charlie Crew in their ranks, so let's just hope for no further fireworks involving Gray.

As great as it is to see players represent their country, especially the youngsters, there is always a risk of them picking up an injury.

Gray is also at risk of being overused at such a young age, having started 11 of Leeds' 13 games this season, while appearing off the substitutes' bench in the other two.

Indeed, with 830 minutes of Championship action to his name, only three others have been on the field longer for Leeds this term [WhoScored].

Daniel Farke will no doubt be keeping close tabs on the hugely talented youngster over the next week.
