Drew Green shares verdict after Leeds United Women win v Halifax
Leeds United Women attacker Drew Green has admitted that the 2-0 win against Halifax on Wednesday 28 August was never easy.
The Whites managed to triumph over their local rivals in the second round of the National League Cup, following up the 3-1 win against Fylde, before drawing 2-2 with Stockport on 1 September.
Green managed to score her first competitive goal for the club and insisted that it was all about getting to the next round of the cup with the win.
“It is always nice to win a local derby mid-week under the lights. They didn’t make it easy for us, but we were patient and we kept pushing and we got the goal. It was good to get the win to build the momentum towards the weekend,” she told the official club website [31 August].
“It meant a lot to score my first competitive goal for Leeds, but obviously it was more important contributing to the team and securing the win to get us into the next round.
Leeds Women now eyeing Stockport fixture
After last season was full of problems regarding a waterlogged pitch, it finally feels as if Leeds Women are getting a decent run of games in.
The club currently find themselves seventh in the FA Women’s National League Division One North and takes on Middlesbrough next.
With only three points separating them and top spot after three league games, Simon Wood will be wanting his side to stay in the race for as long as possible.

The West Yorkshire outfit are coming off the back of two wins and one draw in their last three outings so confidence will be at a high at Thorp Arch.
There is still a lot of time left in the season but for now, at least, it feels as if the Whites could have a special campaign on their hands.
Especially if they manage to keep all of their star players fit across the course of the campaign.
