Leeds United Women had another game postponed after their game against Hull City Ladies was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Images posted via Twitter (10 March) by Leeds United WFC Supporters Group showed big pools of water on the pitch rendering the game unplayable on Sunday.

The set-back comes after the away trip to Chorley was also not played in similar circumstances last month during a frustrating, truncated, league season.

Leeds United Women hit by another postponed fixture

Simon Wood's side had already had their progress halted by a 3-2 defeat to Durham Cestria last week (3 March), damaging hopes of the games in hand being translated into a high finish in the table at the end of the campaign.

The coach had praised the "work-rate" and the "effort" of the players after the loss, as he admitted he was pleased with many elements of the performance despite the result.

The Whites had gone ahead to Katie Astle's second goal in two games but conceded three, with the fightback running out of steam after Izzy Elliott's 90th-minute strike.

Wood would no doubt have wanted to get back in action as quickly as possible to rebound and build on the positive elements of the game.

Instead it is another frustrating week off and momentum interrupted in a campaign that has already experienced its fair share.

The loss to Durham Cestria was disappointing but the fortnight left to stew on it compounds the set back, and sees the team left marooned in midtable.
