Leeds United set for out-of-nowhere move to sign Luton Town sensation Sverre Sandal

Leeds United are interested in signing Luton Town sensation Sverre Sandal.

The League One outfit only signed Sandal in January from Norwegian side KFUM for around £700,000, who is unexpectedly struggling for game time with the Hatters.

According to Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX, Leeds are said to be bound to offer Luton £1.7million for the 6,4″ midfielder, which could see a deal wrapped up this summer.

Italian side Spezia were keen on landing the 22-year-old in January, and now understand that their former target could be headed for Elland Road very soon.

Leeds could sign Sandal this summer, in what is being suggested to be a smart scouting operation.

Everything you need to know about Sverre Sandal

The 49ers are gearing up transfer plans with Daniel Farke for this summer, and midfield seems to be an area that the Whites are keen to strengthen.

Sandal is a box-to-box midfielder with a good engine worthy of the Premier League, which makes his game time at Luton under Jack Wilshire seem confusing.

The midfield sensation learnt his trade with Hauketo before moving to Nordstrand IF, where he was later poached by KFUM.

The Norwegian has had his first taste of English football this year, but previously spent his first three professional seasons with KFUM.

Sandal had been a regular for the Norwegian outfit, but has only made Luton’s matchday squad on four occasions since signing.

It seems like Leeds are trying to pounce on Luton’s potential mishap here.

Is this a sign of how Leeds will go about summer business?

The 49ers will know that money has to be spent this summer in order to keep the dreaded second-season syndrome at bay.

They tried to sign another Norwegian, Jorgen Strand Larsen, in the winter window, but were priced out of a move, as fans have had to accept that funds are hard to come by in LS11 at the moment.

Leeds have had great success in the past by spending low fees on players with a high ceiling, notably Crysencio Summerville, who they then developed before selling on for a huge profit.

Sandal could be another whose story potentially goes a similar way, should he join Leeds. But this may be an indication of how the 49ers are trying to operate smart and shrewd this summer.
