Leeds United should be looking to profit off Sebastiaan Bornauw in the upcoming transfer window.

The Whites signed the Belgium international for £5.1million last summer, but speculation has been rife over his future in LS11.

FC Koln have their eyes on Bornauw, who has struggled for regular game time at the West Yorkshire outfit this season.

Despite the centre-back’s limited minutes under Daniel Farke, he’s been a valuable member of the squad, deputising in defence during injuries to Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk.

Bornauw’s exit from Elland Road could be a realistic possibility in the summer, but the Peacocks are undoubtedly in the driving seat to demand multi-million pounds to sell him.

Ever since Farke’s shift to playing three centre-backs in the starting lineup, Bornauw’s availability has been a massive boost.

Even if the Belgian ace doesn’t get enough opportunities, the Whites arguably need him to maintain enough squad depth, which has played a part in the German manager all but confirming Premier League survival.

The West Yorkshire outfit will surely be in no hurry to sell the defender, whose current contract at Elland Road runs until 2029.

Any team that pursues a move for Bornauw in the summer should be forced to pay a premium that yields clever profit for the Peacocks.

The 49ers Enterprises can then invest that money into the team as they undoubtedly need to strengthen Farke’s squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Leeds want to sign Danilho Doekhi after the centre-back leaves Union Berlin as a free agent.

The Whites should be targeting bolstering their backline in the summer with a new centre-back and left-back.

With Doekhi on the West Yorkshire outfit’s radar, it feels like they’ve already accepted that they may have to part ways with Bornauw sooner rather than later, with the Belgium international surely looking for pastures new to kickstart his career.

The 27-year-old is still in his prime ages and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the centre-back hand in an official transfer request when the time comes.
