Leeds United get transfer latest as £17.2m Kerim Alajbegovic update emerges

Leeds United have recently been linked with an ambitious move for highly rated winger Kerim Alajbegovic ahead of the summer window.

The Bosnian forward has taken the world of football by storm over the last season, with Bayer Leverkusen already activating the £7million buyback clause inserted into his original sale.

At just 18 years old, sides such as Premier League champions Arsenal have already been sniffing around him, with the Whites firmly in the mix too.

Little has been known about the details surrounding a potential move for the Bundesliga winger, but now the LS11 side have learnt quite a bit more.

Ahead of Leeds’ summer window, here is how much the 49ers may have to pay to land the winger.

How much would Kerim Alajbegovic cost Leeds United?

Leeds United have learned how much signing Alajbegovic could cost.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Leverkusen “currently value him at least €20m (£17.2m), some say even €25 million (£21.5m).”

Bayer Leverkusne reported asking price£17.2m – £21.5m
CIES Football Observatory£20.7m – £24.1m
Transfermarkt£18.9m

Additionally, according to the Italian outlet, which has thrown Roma’s name into the mix for the winger, the German side are open to letting the Bosnian already leave the club.

The report shares that Leverkusen wants to “immediately generate a capital gain. A significant one at that.”

Leeds will surely be keeping a close eye on any rumblings over the future of the 18-year-old, as Leeds have already been in contact with Alajbegovic’s agents.

Time will tell what happens with Alajbegovic and if his future does lie at Elland Road, but the fact Leeds are scouting this level of player is a good sign in itself.

How highly rated is Alajbegovic?

Alajbegovic played a key role in Bosnia’s World Cup play-off triumph against Italy, and his international manager could not hold back his praise.

Speaking back in April, Sergej Barbarez said: “Alajbegovic is a talent with great potential. He is always great.”

Now, Leeds will be keeping a keen eye on the World Cup, with Bosnia and Herzegovina drawn in a group with Switzerland, Canada and Qatar.

Primarily a left-winger, it could be interesting to see him face off against Noah Okafor, a player for Leeds who has often been deployed on the left wing as well.

Okafor, however, has had his injury issues at Elland Road, and he could also be deployed as a centre-forward, opening the door for the duo to play alongside each other.
