Leeds United are set to miss out on the signing of Kofi Amoako.

With Premier League safety already confirmed, the Whites will have initiated plans for the summer transfer window, with plenty of work to be done.

Adding more firepower to the attack is likely to be a priority, though Daniel Farke will be keen to bolster his squad elsewhere when the chance emerges.

Leeds had been linked with a move to sign Dynamo Dresden midfielder Amoako, who has had a fine campaign in the Bundesliga 2.

However, a move to Elland Road seems to be off the cards as per the latest reports.

Where is Kofi Amoako likely to be headed?

Amoako was an out-of-the-blue target for Leeds, much like Ao Tanaka was prior to his Elland Road switch.

The Japanese international has gone on to be an excellent addition for the Whites, who had hoped to repeat the trick with Amoako.

That now seems unlikely, with BILD Hannover reporting that a move to Hamburger is edging closer to being completed.

Amoako will cost the German outfit a maximum fee of £1.7million, though it could drop to as low as £436,000 if Dresden are relegated.

With one game left, they sit just two points above the relegation play-offs.

Leeds plans must shift after Amoako failure

Players like Amoako often come as a low-risk transfer, and Leeds can certainly afford to make some of them this summer.

However, after seemingly failing in their first attempt to bring a player like that to Elland Road, they can’t afford to get caught up in other similar deals.

Adding proven quality has to be the priority before additions like this are made.
