Jhon Solis: Leeds United may unusual path to seal transfer as Birmingham City hold high ground
Jhon Solis is on Leeds United‘s radar this summer, despite his permanent move to Birmingham City looks set to be confirmed.
The Whites are looking to strengthen their defensive midfield options this summer, and the Colombian has emerged as a target for the 49ers.
Daniel Farke already has some strong players in the middle of the park, but a lack of depth may be promoting this potential transfer.
Birmingham City are set to sign Solis from Girona for £6.9million, as his loan contract included a mandatory buy option that has now been triggered.
Leeds want to sign Solis, but Birmingham City will hold the cards in discussions if they get the deal over the line.

Leeds still backed to sign Jhon Solis despite Birmingham City move
Solis played well against Leeds in the FA Cup earlier this year, and looks to have taken life to English football well.
Birmingham are currently in the Championship and are mathematically out of the race for a place in the play-offs, but are said to have triggered Solis’ mandatory buyout option, set at £6.9m through 11 appearances.

According to Ivan Quiros on X, Leeds and Brentford are interested in the 21-year-old, who looks likely to be a Birmingham City player this summer.
The journalist then went on to say that it wouldn’t be the first time that another club has purchased a player in the same window that one club signs them, as would be the case with Solis.
The only thing is that the Brummies would hold the high ground against the Whites, as the Premier League hopefuls would be able to demand a much higher fee than what they are soon to be paying.
It would be unusual for Leeds to sign him in the same window that Birmingham did, but as mentioned, it’s happened in the past.
Why haven’t Birmingham announced permanent Solis stay?
It’s highly likely that Birmingham have been made aware of interest in Solis. It may even be that the Midlands side have sorted the paperwork for the youngster, but just haven’t decided to announce the deal yet.
This may be in anticipation of him leaving St. Andrews’ already, as Solis’ sister already hinted on her social media earlier this month.

It would be no surprise to see Birmingham finally announce the permanent signing of Solis, but at the same time as confirming his exit to Leeds or another club.
This has happened before, and though unusual, it’s possible.
