Jamie Carragher claims he’s never seen Ethan Ampadu have a bad game this season, and most Leeds United fans would agree.

The Welsh star has captained Leeds to Premier League survival, the main goal which was set out at the start of the campaign.

Daniel Farke has waxed lyrical about Ampadu, who seems to have only taken his game to the next level after showing his quality in the Championship last term.

The skipper has been an immovable force in the heart of midfield at Elland Road, and is in the running to be named the club’s player of the season.

However, Leeds could see interest for Ampadu arise this summer, which may ring alarm bells behind the scenes in LS11, especially after what Carragher claimed.

Leeds drew 1-1 with Tottenham on Monday as Farke shuffled some players around, but kept Ampadu right in the middle of the park.

The defensive midfielder was on top form again, controlling the tempo of the game while also showing his ability in build-up play for the Whites.

As seen in the table above, the 25-year-old barely put a foot wrong at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, wowing fans and pundits alike.

While speaking on Sky Sports after the Spurs game, Carragher explained just how impressed he’s been with Ampadu this season.

Carragher said: “Ampadu, every time I watch him play, I’m impressed with him.

“He’s been one of my favourite players, sitting midfield players I’ve watched in the Premier League this season. Every time I watch him, he doesn’t have a bad game, fantastic.”

In an ideal world, the Whites can push on with Ampadu, who could lead them into a battle for European football moving forward.

But money talks in football, and if a bigger club were to come in for him this summer, the 49ers may be powerless.

There will be rumours and interest this summer regarding Ampadu, with many top Premier League clubs looking for new midfielders.

However, Farke has already stated that he is keen to keep the midfielder at the club for the foreseeable future.

The Leeds boss would surely be devastated to lose Ampadu, and that’s why communication with the 49ers this summer is crucial.
